The following paragraphs were written by 2nd grade students in Ms. Moreno’s class at South Beaver Magnet School about the history of South Beaver School.

South Beaver School has a lot of history. South Beaver was built in the year 1935. It is 73 years old. There is a tree that was planted for a woman who worked in the cafeteria. Her name was Mrs. Hernandez. There are many pictures in the hall. Some are even black and white. There are pictures of sports teams.There is a statue of a beaver. You see it when you walk into the school. It was given to us by Mr. and Mrs. Cromer who worked at South Beaver. We rub its teeth for luck. There is a girl and a boy beaver painted in the gym. It was painted in the early 1970’s. There is a mural in the gym that represents Arizona. It was painted by the fourth graders. They will be the first 100 year class in Arizona in the year 2012. There are trophies for sports teams. There are football, volleyball, bowling and basketball trophies. South Beaver is cool, because it has a lot of history.

South Beaver has a lot of history. South Beaver is 73 years old. It was built out of malapai rock from Arizona. There is a tree in front of South Beaver. The tree was planted for a lady named Ms. Hernandez. She worked in the cateteria for 30 years. There were lots of kids at South Beaver school that played sports.They got trophies for playing basketball, foot ball, bowling, and volleyball. Now you can see all the trophies in glass cases. The students painted the girl beaver and the boy beaver in the gym. Mr. Hubbard has been the principal that has worked at South Beaver school for the longest time, and his picture is in the hallway. The Cromers, who worked at South Beaver for 25 years, had someone carve a beaver for South Beaver School. Now it is in the hallway so every one can see it. When you walk into South Beaver, you will see a statue of a beaver. When you rub its teeth, you get good luck. The beaver was a gift from the Cromers who were teachers for 25 years. In the gym there is a boy and girl beaver painted on the wall. It also has dates for ten years of basketball championships. South Beaver is an old building in Flagstaff, Arizona. South Beaver has a lot of history.

South Beaver is a special school. South Beaver was built in the year 1935, and it is 73 years old. It’s made with malapai rock. The rock is found here in Flagstaff, Arizona. When you walk up to South Beaver, you see a tree for Mrs.Hernandez. She worked for thirty years in the cafeteria. Most trophies in the hallway are for sports like basketball, bowling, volleyball, and football. They are in glass cases so they will be taken care of. Mr.Hubbard was the longest working principal, and his picture is next to the office. There are pictures of sports teams, and awards in the hall. There’s a statue of a beaver found in the hall, and when you touch the beaver’s teeth it gives you good luck. It was a gift from the Cromers. The Cromers worked here as teachers. In the cafeteria, girls and boys painted two beavers. One is a girl, and one is a boy. The mural in the gym is so special to this school. It represents Arizona. The pictures in the glass case are pictures of students that went to South Beaver a long time ago. The dates that are in the gym are dates of the winning basketball championship games . The trophies in the glass cases are for sports. The painting in the gym are of the state of Arizona. Mr. Hubbard worked for the longest time as principal and you will see his picture in the hall way. The beaver in the hall was a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Cromer. The Cromers were teachers at South Beaver for 25 years. If you touch the beaver statue it will give you good luck. South Beaver is special.
